Music of the Underworld

Since Rhianna's Russian Roulette has been released to the public, it has really sparked some controversy and caused fans, as well as artisits to speak out on the "dark and satanic" side of the music industry.

When I first caught a whif of the controversy, it started with Tiffany Evans, made known by her hit single, "Promise Ring". She went in on Twitter, saying,"Russian Roulette = Suicidal Rate gon sky rocket!" She later tweeted: "You gotta watch what u say. Because there are a lot of weak people in the world. They are susceptible to anything so anything you say or do some people actually do listen," Evans said. "So make sure its nothing bad. Its okay to be deep, but not murder deep."

The part that really stuck with me was the fact that she related the music industry to Satan worshipping.

"Some of your favorite people pretend to worship God but they only do that to save face. Or seem innocent. Satan was head of music in heaven. He uses influential people ... to help influence the world. Think about that. Once u make a certain amount of money. Just know that that’s when they ask u to join. To get in you have accept the beast, worship. Once you join they assist u with ur career.make u huge.only if u agree and obey to destroy Gods word.and his children.

Ppl listen and pay attention. Its a war going on right now between Good and Evil. Evil will rule this world for a min. The people that have this power are the people that RULE the whole world. I’m done I won’t say anymore before I get in trouble."

Today on NicoleBitchie.com, I happened to see Omarion spoke out on the topic.
"Fast forward to now [and] it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The[entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation."

So who is oversaturated in the industry? The first people that came to my mind were Beyonce, RiRi, Lil Wayne...but would I really consider these people to be "Leaders of the Underworld"??? This seemed a little far-fetched to me, but then my roomate started talking to me about The Five Percenters Religion. I had never heard of it before, but it made me wonder how long things like this had actually been going on. For those that were as clueless as I was about the Five Percenters, you can click here to find out more. It also made me think about Tupac who talked over and over again about selling soul to devil for fame. How long have all of these things really been going on and how long have we as fans been blind to this if it holds some truth? I know that my grandparents use to always say that you should be careful what you listen to because it can really affect your spirit, but do you really think that these artists have sold their souls to the devil to brainwash us?

So, would you say that this world really exists or is it that Tiffany Evans is really jealous because she hasn't made it that far in the music industry? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Is Tyler Perry Holding the Black Community Back?

Below is a quote from John Singleton on Tyler Perry and other men portraying women in films. I have heard many people comment on thier dislike in Perry's Madea character, claiming that it depicts stereotypes and is degrading amongst the Black race. I have also heard others comment on how Perry is bringing a positive image of Black families back to TV as well as the Silver Screen while bringing religion to the forefront. Would love to hear what you all think of the quote as well as views on Tyler Perry...

There’s nothing but comedies, and I’m tired of all these Black men in dresses. Every other movie has a Black man in a dress, from the Madea movies to Norbit to Big Momma. How come nobody’s protesting that? They call them family movies, and nobody’s telling the little kids that it’s kind of different for a man to wear a dress. I’m just saying that it comes to a point where, if that’s the only types of images they’re seeing, how is that informing upon Black men in America? It’s as if all we can do is make people laugh and play basketball.

They claim that former Spice Girl, Mel B and husband, Stephen Belafonte were leaving an early Halloween party, but WTH is really goin on here?!?!? Please comment!

Chris Brown: I Can Transform Ya

I am so excited that Chris Breezy is making a comeback! He finally released the video for his single "I Can Transform Ya". The video is just okay, but I love the song! Don't really understand Tyrese's cameo apperance, but enjoy!

David Beckham Condoms???

So, kinda got uber excited when I saw on Starpulse.com that there is a such thing as David Beckham condoms! The soccer star now features on a new range of condoms at Madrid, Spain's Thyssen-Bornemisza museum. The museum will start selling the them later this month as part of an exhibition called Tears of Eros...Victoria won't be the only one to enjoy the British Beau!

Introducing: Nicki Minaj

Over the past few weeks, I have developed a slight fascination with Nicki Minaj. Now, I don't feel as though her lyrics are always the hottest, but I think that her sound is so unique and really makes her stand out...and she looks a lot like Lauren London to me! There has been a lot of celebs on Twitter (like Terrence J) that have been raving about her talents and I finally got to hear her spit on the 5 Star Chick remix. From there, I decided to listen to some tracks from her mixtape, "Beam Me Up Scotty"...but she definitely held her own during the BET Awards during "The Cypher" (seen below).

BET Hip Hop Awards '09 Cyphers

So, do you think that she has what it takes to become one of the best female emcees, if not one of the greatest female rappers of all time? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Halloween Costume Ideas

With Halloween right around the corner, people are deciding on the perfect costume. Well, there are some obvious ones, but here are some of my favorite picks sent in and/or suggested by friends.

Michael Jackson :everyone wants to pay homage to the King of Pop

Lady Gaga: her eclectic sense of style and odd behaviors make her an obvious costume choice.

Kanye West: with all of his antics, esp. at the MTV Awards, many guys may come disguised as the overconfident rapper. He may come with his very own Taylor Swift sidekick!

Swine Flu: It's been the topic on everyone's lips and this is as close as we all hope to come to the virus.

Octomom & Kate Gosselin: these moms have made headlines and now hot Halloween ideas.

Where The Wild Things Are/Twilight: These characters were #1 in the box office and will more than likely cause a few people to tap into their theatric side.

Honorable Mentions: The Bumblebee, Nurse, Facebook/Myspace/Twitter, Katie Perry, Beyonce, Balloon Boy

A Letter To My Future Wife

I read this and thought that it was so sweet...so sweet in fact, I wanted to share it. This was written by my good friend, Demarcus. It's an ode to the lady of his life, whoever and wherever she may be. Gives me hope (tear)...lol.

Ri-Ri's New Album

So, Rihanna's first single off of her new album is available today on her site and the album, "Rated R" is scheduled to be released in November. The question is, are we really excited about the upcoming album with all of the press coverage behind her mishap with ex-beau Chris Brown???

I listened to the first single "Russian Roulette" today and I actually like it.
Would love to hear your comments on the songs! Share your comments.

Barbie Has Cankles?!?!?

Christian Louboutin, the conniseour of shoes stopped Mattel lovers head in their tracks when he commented that the legendary Barbie has...feet meat! And PLEASE tell me why they have a statement from Barbie?!?!?

The designer is creating footwear for three designer Barbies coming out next spring, all wearing his high heels.

Loubutin's rep stated that the comment may just be a language barrier...I think he gets a side eye on that one.

Michael Crabtree FINALLY Signed with the 49ers

Photograph by Paul Sakuma/AP

YES! Michale Crabtree finally seals the deal with the San Francisco 49ers. The former Texas Tech wide reciever got his #15 jersey and six-year contract on Wednesday as he prepares for his first NFL game with the team against Atlanta.

Crabtree's contract is for six years and $32 million that could potentially maximize to $40 million. And this was the holdup...his agent, Eugene Parker, wanted to ensure that Crabtree was offered a deal comparable to higher picks.

Maya Angelou Hospitalized...NOT

So it seems that Maya Angelou was NOT hospitalized in LA.

CNN news editor Saeed Ahmed shared this on Twitter earlier today: "Contrary to TMZ report, Maya Angelou is fine, at home, & wasn't even in LA Sat nite, said her literary agent Helen Brann."

TMZ is usually the first to get all the info, but this information was (thankfully) incorrect.

Papa [Knowles] Was A Rolling Stone?

It seems that phenom, Beyonce Knowles, may have a baby sister (or brother) on the way. According to numerous blog reports, Matthew Knowles may have a child due around...April 2010? 6-months pregnant woman Alexsandra Wright says that Knowles is the father of her child and has filed a claim to further state her case.

Of course, TMZ was the first to break the story...this should be an interesting outcome.

Mama Tina is NOT happy, can't you tell-->

Tardy For The Party

Kandi can do a lil something with auto-tunes right?!?! Well, in case you wanted to hear the full version of "Tardy For The Party" by Kim Zolciak, here it is:

Little Diva Davanna

So...I think I may be her new biggest fan! If you haven't heard of Little Diva Davanna by now, get into it honey! She is only 9 and recently appeared on ANTM to show these girls how a true model is suppose to rock the runway, despite her height!

Real Rip-off Of Atlanta

It seems that Atlanta has a new batch of women who want to steal the spotlight from NeNe and the gang. The group consists of 4 Black women, a White woman, and and a Black guy/girlfriend...sounds oddly familiar to a little show on Bravo that airs on Bravo. Anywho...the show is scheduled to air in 2010 and consists of women, unlike the "Real Housewives" that make their own money and don't rely on the "Big Poppas" of the world. This is a tragedy...lol
